The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a test that predicts how likely someone would breast cancer with have a reoccurrence within 5 to 10 years after first diagnosis. What this means is that doctors and patients now have a way to predict the odds of breast cancer returning. The MammaPrint (manufactured by Agendia) is the first genetic profiler approved for market. MammaPrint relies on a profile of genetic marker activities to predict the likelihood of breast cancer reoccurrence. MammaPrint is already available in the Netherlands since 2005.
